If I had to name my greatest strength, I guess it would be my humility. Greatest weakness, it's possible that I'm a little too awesome.

    What do you mean "Checkin"?
It means dialing *#*#2432546#*#* on the phone app. This causes your Nexus One to "check-in" with the Google server.

Interesting. Didn't know that. I just did it....and it cleared the entry from the screen. Guess that's by design.

OK, now just gotta wait for the OTA.

    Thanks for the info.

Nope, spoke too soon. Saw a message "Check in failed". Ugh.

I've gotten that same "Check in failed" message a couple of times.
As I cross my fingers I just think that means that the server is too busy to confirm the check in.

There is absolutely no reason why they would remove it, and no where have I seen any announcement (if I missed on, feel free to point it out)that they are even considering doing that. Nexus one is Google's developer phone, not T-Mobile's phone. :nexusx:

Not sure where this fear is coming from. The whole point of having the Nexus one is freedom from the carriers restrictions.

Does it do anything different then the System Updates option in the About Phone menu?

I've poked around all the menus and haven't found any changes that stick out. Market has definitely changed versions from 1.82 to 2.12 but I don't see any visible changes on it either. I've since returned to CM6.1 nightlies until GB releases. :nexusx:

I updated last night OTA and both USB tethering and Portable Wi-Fi hotspot are both still in the menu. I haven't tried them yet (my laptop isn't handy), but there's no indication that they are disabled.

    I'm on T-mobile in US.
