Best app for startup control ?

Does anyone know of an app that allows you to make an app start automatically and be initially in-focus ?

Today I tried a Head-Up-Display GPS speedometer app (Speedview by Code Sector) and was impressed enough that I though "one day I might buy up a cheapo 1st gen Android handset and leave it permanently running that app in my car". The day will come soon enough when you can pick up an old Android phone for under $50 (maybe that day is already here now).

The problem would be that when power is applied to it (when the car is started) it's going to boot up and go into the lock-screen and even when unlocked, you'd have to find the icon and start it.

I'd like to set it up so that the phone boots up, has lock screen disabled, goes straight into the speedview app and it's effectively a head-up speedometer display permanently and will live out it's days as that one-use device. The same concept could apply for navigation too.

    • Astro
    • Barcode Scanner
    • Battery Widget
    • Brightness Toggle Widget
    • Fancy Widget
    • LauncherPro (you may not need this on Desire)
    • Ringer Toggle Widget
    • SMS Unread Count (works for messages and GMail)
    • Timeriffic (sounds are automatically turned off overnight)
    I don't understand your message:

"I accept a Nexus One" ... nobody's offering you a Nexus One here.

"but that is appealing" .... what?

"abutting to a Desire" .... is abutting even a word ?

<list of random apps> .... why have you listed a random selection of apps ?
