The one detailed in the text file named Root, that's in the tools folder...

    I've posted it again here:
    ** Instructions for Windows:
** Commands are without the **, and are to be typed into the cmd prompt

** Confirm you have connection, when phone is booted with USB debugging enabled
** To enable USB debugging from the phone use Menu> Settings> Applications> Development
** The following command will return a device ID if connected correctly
    adb devices

** Copy the files to your phone
    adb push rageagainstthecage /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage
    adb push Superuser.apk /data/local/tmp/Superuser.apk
    adb push busybox /data/local/tmp/busybox
    adb push su /data/local/tmp/su

** Change the permissions on the files
    adb shell
    cd /data/local/tmp
    chmod 700 /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage
    chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/busybox

    ** Run the exploit
    ./rageagainstthecage

** Check to see if it worked
    adb kill-server
    adb start-server
    adb shell

** The # prompt should change to $
** If you still see $, re-run the exploit (./rageagainstthecage), and check again
** You may have to repeat a number of times
** If you see #, you now have TEMP root

** Mount your phone with read/write (rw) access
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system

** Install busybox, and change permissions
    cd /data/local/tmp
    ./busybox cp busybox /system/bin
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/busybox

** Use busybox to install the other files and change permissions
    busybox cp Superuser.apk /system/app
    busybox cp su /system/bin
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/su

** Mount your phone back to read-only (ro) access
    mount -o remount,ro -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system

    ** Exit the root shell
    exit

** The $ prompt should change to #
    ** Exit the adb shell
    exit

    ** DONE!
** To install a custom ROM, start by installing a custom recovery...

If you want to paste commands into the cmd prompt, right click the bar at the top of the window, and a menu will appear. "Paste" is listed under the "edit" option...

I'm trying to understand this before I start and am getting lost at,
"** Mount your phone with read/write (rw) access
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
    "

In order to make changes to the system you need to have read/write access.
Typing in the command will give you read/write access to the system partition...

Ok. So when I type in, "adb push rageagainstthecage /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage" It will "push" that file to my phone. I then "change permissions (after pushing the othe files), to "adb shell".

If so then I'm a little miffed as to how I go about changing permissions.

All the commands you need are there, and the other text is just explaining what you are doing. When you "shell". you are basically working on the phone, instead of the computer...

It won't recognize my phone anymore. debugging is on I changed the prompt to c drive. I'm ready to give up. I obviously screwed something up when you let go of my hand and i actually tried to do something on my own.

rebooted both the phone and the PC and it still says adb is not recognized as an internal or external command.
