    dude,

Away for a day and you get rooted, congrats

It will be a learning curve, something different

One suggestion: I use Quick Boot from the Market to boot into recovery, not Rom Manager. Have had some issues with it, never Quick Boot

Down the line, maybe even think about Amon_Ra Recovery, you can flash it from Rom Manager or thru Terminal as a zip. Just a future thought.

    uninstalled/installed ROM Manager
Flash ClockworkMod Recovery (1st on List)
Backup Current ROM (2nd on list Under "Backup and Restore")

Is it too late to delete those files now?
    Never too late.
Just make sure you install a custom recovery...

    Get ROM manager working again.
    Install custom recovery again.

    Delete the following two files:
    /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
    /system/recovery-from-boot.p

Root Explorer is the easiest way, but will cost a couple of bucks...
Make sure you enable rw permission in Root Explorer (button at top of screen).

I downloaded root explorer, mounted RW and searched for those files. Neither showed up.

I must be doing something wrong. I tried to reboot into recovery. I have two that I've made, but it doesn't pull either up...just powers down and goes into stock recovery mode.

When you install recovery via ROM manager, does it list the recovery at the top of the ROM manager menu?

There is no install recovery option.

Here is the list on the home screen:

    Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
    Reboot into Recovery
    Install ROM from SD Card
    Download ROM
    Check For ROM Updates
    Install From QR Code
    Manage and Restore Backups
    Backup Current ROM
    Fix Permissions
    Partition SD Card
    Flash Alternate Recovery
    All ClockworkMod Recoveries

The first option and last two optics all of install custom recoveries.
Use the first one for now.

Once installed, it will list clockwork as the current recovery. Is that what you see?
