    If you have superuser on the phone, does that mean it's rooted?

    Yes!
    You may also have a custom ROM, so installing the update may be a bad idea...

    How come you're rooted but have a stock recovery?

    Download ROM Manager and install clockwork 2.5.1.4 from the All Clockwork Recoveries option at the bottom of the menu...

    I have no idea because I can't use any rooted apps so I don't know how it's rooted but not rooted at the same time. I also don't have the unlocked symbol when my phone boots up. I thought that if you had the unlocked symbol you were rooted.
