Is your phone rooted first of all?

No, it's not. It is still unrooted.

Without root your choices are limited. Your best bet is to use widget locker, or just search the market for trackball wake.

I thought that Gingerbread broke trackball wake entirely, and I don't know if it's been fixed yet. Until then I'm using WidgetLocker and the volume rocker to wake the phone. Not as elegant as the trackball, but it still keeps the miles off of the power button.

    Hope that helps.

Trackball wake does work in Gingerbread (anyunlock apparently is not compatible though) it just needs to be added into a custom rom. For unrooted, stock, Gingerbread you definitely gotta go with widget locker (or root and flash a custom rom).

Anyunlock is compatible GB. Though you can't wake from trackball. (Only volume and back buttons)

So basically not compatible with Gingerbread for trackball wake, although neither is WidgetLocker. So for the OP, the only way to achieve trackball wake is to root and flash a custom rom.

Depends on if the OP really wants trackball wake, or an alternative to using the power button...?
