I got it with 10GB of music and it plays just perfect .. ( as same as it does with the stock 4GB one )

unfortunately no.. no root here.. I'm to chicken to even root the G1 I bought specifically for testing rooting..

im jealous, being in canada we are not privy to Amazon's cloud service or any of the free apps they have been giving away since launching their app store.

I would definitely consider moving to cloud as well.
however for it to be practical in canada I think rogers and the other two idiots need to rethink what they are charging for data - not that this will ever happen!

You don't need Amazon for cloud based music. Look at mspot for staging your, our even better, SkyTunes and the like (I use SkyTunes, and stream 120+G of music from my home PC)...

    skytunes sounds pretty cool.
I hadn't heard of it before.

i really do need to get on organizing my music library to make it easier to set these things up!

Cloud is a good idea for some, but you won't always have a connection and those are the times when your gonna wish you had your data on your phone.

Ahhh, but SkyTunes caches files locally, also, and you set the limits for cache size. You don't have all your music without a connection, but you still have some...

Gonna check that out. Amazon limits free cloud service to 5GB, which is about a third of my paltry collection.
