CM7 to stock 2.3 without losing root?

I'd like to give the stock ROM a try after having some constant little issues with CM7.. Maybe I'll come back later.

What's the easiest way of doing this?

So far my search has yielded going back to stock ROM via download manager, then installing update.zip? But that will make me lose root?

    Thanks!

You need to install stock 2.2 1st (passimg.zip) and then update to 2.3. (update.zip)

Yes, you will lose root access. No one click root yet (that i know of) but i guess you can manually root? Or not ? Anyone ?

I would flash a pre-rooted version of Gingerbread, so you don't lose root.
The other option is to install via recovery, then while still in recovery, flash the su.zip and my Fix_Recovery.zip.
    The first option is easiest...
