Nexus wont turn on...

This is a discussion on Nexus wont turn on... within the Nexus One forums, part of the Google Phones category; Its kinda irrelevant anyway. Determining an average won't make my button fail any quicker, and won't bring any failed buttons back to life......

I see what you mean. I managed to talk to some N1 owners personally and they said they never noticed any power button issues from the very first release to this day(though many are irritated by the bad touch screen issues). They are average users who do infinite texting, playing the latest games & a lot of picture taking with various other common usage so they turn on the screen very frequently and use the power button a lot. It seems to me that there actually could be a few bad batches,HTC just said all will meet the same end to avoid the recall of the faulty batches, but that we can't say for sure. I have also seen some videos on youtube where the ways of handling seriously amazed me,the most striking was the pinning down of the N1 on screen by thumb and a sudden jerk on the cord to pull the usb jack off,now what kind of handling was that? A rough handling can also be a cause.

I also took out several old small flex cables from our lab yesterday, they were not very elastic but won't break with a few push or pull, only a sharp silver or an edge bend of 360 degrees a few times will break them.I am not sure which kind of flex is used in N1 though.

Now this is all my personal opinion,I am just trying to understand why such a mighty phone should have such funny Achilles heel .

    Thanks

Could anyone tell me which was the last version of android that had the sweet white notification bar? I am seriously disgusted by the ugly black notification bar of 2.3.4 .

The black notification bar was added in on gingerbread so anything over 2.3 is black.

So you mean I should move to 2.3.0 then? I didn't know that version existed though, does it? Oh damn, maybe I should love this gothic depressing black bar and ugly green icons in that.

    Thanks for the info

Actually my bad it's not above 2.3 it's 2.3 and above cause 2.3 is still gingerbread. But the black status bar actually helps 2 things one it saves battery and I think everybody loves that and two it prevents burn in so it's a win win :D

Hey! Thinking of moving to Nexus S,the price is pretty down these days and if I sell my N1 and add a few bucks I can easily get a Nexus S. But am afraid that there are bad smells lurking around. Here are the two problems I spotted so far:
    - Won't wakeup after 15 minutes of sleep mode,requires a battery pull
(Google Claimed to fix this with 2.3.4 update)
    - Doesn't successfully boot, requires several tries before a complete boot
(Still didn't get a fix, some claim it hardware and some blame it on software,no official words from google or samsung about this yet)

Any of you with a Nexus S can confirm these? Did you face such issues ever? I don't want to buy pain with my hard earned money & samsung has the poorest customer service in our country so yeah I need to be sure before I get one.

    Thanks
(Nexus S section seems to be a bit lazy compared to Nexus One section here,is it me or its real?)

Okay, found the real problem. The problem is not the flex cable itself. The problem is the engineer who had the brightest idea here. The 90 degree bend is what breaks the flex cable of N1. Every time the power button is hit,the 90 degree bend gets pressed as well and enforces the bend and over time the bend becomes an edge bend, like the one happens when you fold a paper and then flatten the folded edge with your nail for easier less messy tearing. So the problem is the 90 degree bend nothing else. The elimination of that bend can solve the whole problem but then again its not possible now. I wish the bright engineer who had the bending idea would be fined to pay for all the broken power button repair. Well thats more like evil thought but anyways now I know the problem,I am ready to sell my N1 and move on.
As recently stated I am thinking of moving into Nexus S,but recently the LG Optimus 2x got a price drop due to reduction of tax on electronic goods,so guys which one is better in durability & doesn't have builtin hardware faults?

    Thanks
