my phone is all time connected to the net.
Go to settings -> about phone and look at the bottom for build number tell me what it says. I suspect you may have a vodafone ROM which means you will need to passimg to get to stock then you will be able to update.

OK, you probably have a phone from a different carrier. Some carriers tweak the ROM for their own reasons - the downside is that they also tweak the updates, and so the updates can take quite a while to be released...
You need switch to a stock Google ROM if you want to get the updates as they are released from Google. It's pretty easy, but will wipe all the data and settings from your phone...
Follow the guide to restore factory settings, posted here:

at last....i got the OTA update for the OS 2.3.4. still did not notice big difference except status bar: battery icon, signal strength icon, wifi icon, green browser icon instead of blue...and some new apps like downloads, books and twitter. I'm not a twitter or facebook user, so I tried to remove them but it's not possible!!!

The OS 2.3.4 did not resolve a problem I had noticed time to time on 2.2 which is that the screen is responding to somewhere else than I touch. On the home screen when I touch an icon to launch an app that's an other one that launches(the two icons are not close to each other). On the keyboard when I touch a letter that's an other one that shows up. The screen does not know where I'm touching it...any one has the same problem? any fix?
