    Rooting Android 2.3.4 is possible??

I purchased my N1 on ebay couple of days ago. I received it, but being a newbie with android devices I've read many threads about rooting and installing custom roms.

I tried to connect my N1 to PC through ADB but I couldn't succeed. However, before to continue with my trails and being my N1 is a used one not brand-new I don't really know what was going on it before, so I would like to ask how can I know if my N1 is rooted or not and what rom is flashed???

Some information about my N1 as it's shown in the settings is:
    Android version: 2.3.4
    Kernel version: 2.6.35.7.......
    Build number: GRJ22

To see if it's rooted, install a terminal emulator and type "su".

If it's not rooted, you probably have the stock ROM...

2.3.4 can be rooted. If your bootloader is unlocked, follow this method.

Did it on both my nexus ones and it all worked fine.

The process steps are real simple.
    1 - unlock bootloader.
2 - install custom recovery (via fastboot)
3 - use custom recovery to install the su zip by ChainsDD

1 - To unlock the bootloader, you can follow this guide (first thread) on how to set up an sdk connection. You then boot your phone into fastboot, connect to the PC, and type "fastboot oem unlock" - done.
    http://www.nexusoneforum.net/forum/n...e-windows.html

2 - to install custom recovery, just download a compatible recovery image, place in your sdk folder on the computer and type "fastboot flash recovery name-of-recovery.img" (where name-of-recovery.img is the actual name of the recovery file).

Boot into recovery by typing "fastboot boot name-of-recovery.img"

You should have the su zip (eclair/froyo version works for gingerbread) on your SD card, and select a "flash zip from sd" option (or similar), find the su zip file, and select it...

    That's it - rooted...
