It cost $55 once, but that was due to the fact the phone was run over by a car, and needed a glass replacement. It got run over just before I was about to call them and get the power button fixed. 100 days later, I called again because I was back to using the power cable plug in method to turning it on, and they fixed it for free, including paying for FedEx shipping.

And T-Mobile will give you a loaner for free while your phone is in the shop. It'll be a crappy feature phone most likely, but you'll only be without your N1 for 4 or 5 days max.

I just don't see any phones that are worth giving up my N1 for at the current time.

The memory will be erased, so make sure you back up your stuff.

I have a spare phone, thats not an issue. Already had it repaired once for free under OEM warranty... but it only lasted 90 or so days. I do not want to have to keep dealing with this known OEM defect, even if free it is stil at least a week of hassel for something that should not happen at all.

Your right about current phones...hence waiting on Nexus 3.

I would just send it to HTC again for a $55 repair (plus the $10+ FedEx charges you for that device box) and make sure to install the No lock/Lock app from the market when you get it back. Currently, at least for me, there is no other phone I would happily upgrade to. Sticking with the N1.

Soo... news is hitting now... iPhone 4s is a typical Apple upgrade in specs, enough to say its better, but not enough to jump over all the competition. Galaxy Nexus looks like it will be a re-branded Galaxy SII just with Ice Cream Sandwich but only run on Vz.

I will probably buy something near beginning of Nov, but not seeing much out there to jump up and down about and if Galaxy Nexus is Vz only like rumored that will rule it out since I do not wish to leave ATT right now. Bah.

Stay tuned, Vydor...I still think we'll see a Nexus device on ATT soon enough. Naming is very much up in the air, but I'd bet anything it's coming. And, no, I have no inside knowledge of this...it's just a strong hunch.

"soon enough" is the problem :D I want to get my Nexus warranty claim in while I still can sell it if Square Trade sends me a refurb instead of a check. Nexus One is already dropping below $200, and I need enough from the sale to buy something.

Well it happened, the power button is dead. The time for a replacement is at hand. Gonna miss this phone, best I ever owned.

I still love and use my N1 daily. Still no problem with the power button.
