I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread to post our locations and network speeds. Since this forum is specific to T-Mo, we can get a good idea of network speed, response and upgrades based on the changes posted over time... creating a baseline as it were.
Please give your location in the post title and if you don't include a screenshot, please format your post as follows:
Please don't post results from other networks... this thread will be lengthy enough without having to weed through any off-network results.
If we're lucky, this data will give us an indication of whether the G2 radio hardware is a significant improvement over the N1... and whether the network is the limiting factor when comparing the two radios. These results will also allow the N1 faithful to compare our speeds with other T-Mo Droids.
These results were from last week in and around my place in Marietta, which range from around 900k up to 3.1M. I get better speeds in midtown Atlanta (some higher than 4Mbps), but it varies greatly by location... even within the same block.
Well... Normal speeds vary depending on which tower I'm on. My normal tower at home gets around 4-4.5Mb/s, which is pretty good. The HSPA+ trials I've been testing in various places are regularly 12-13Mb/s, with one site going up to 18Mb/s... that one site is upgraded to a fiber backhaul with a 21.1Mb/s HSPA+ transceiver.
Edit: That 18Mb/s figure is on a USB modem. My Captivate tops out at 7.2Mb/s.
