    Its pretty good I think!

The ride was roughly 1.5 hours each way, and I had the GPS/Turnbyturn on almost 99% of each way. If not on screen, in the background running.

Nothing close to my old flipphone which would last 2 days without a charge under heavy use..... But that phone didn't have *ANYTHING* this advanced or useful.

I let it completely discharge until shut-off last night.

I unplugged at 5.15am, it was 'idle' in my pocket until about 7am when I sent and received a total of 5 text messages.

At 9am I read a dozen or so internet pages and twitter for 20 minutes. It's been 'idle' since. It's now midday and I'm at 60% battery.

The main battery drain is 'cell system' at 60% followed by 'display' at 30%. I have brightness set pretty low, sync and wifi are on (as they should be - little point otherwise).

So I'm still not very impressed, but it's perhaps a little better than it has been. Not as good as iPhone 3G though, so I'm hoping for power tweaks in the next update.

Because I HAVE TO BE reachable and I'm in and out of houses all day having to speak to clients, I'm definitely getting a second battery. I knew before I got the phone that I'd need it. I'm uploading onto my blog, sending emails taking photos and video all day hypothetically (clients' animals).

The first day I got the phone was heavy use for me, everything I could think to do and I recharged twice but it never got below 15%. If I didn't use it for business it wouldn't be any issue for me since when I'm home I use my computer for everything mostly. But it seems alot of people use the phone instead. Like watching movies and emailing in bed. I prefer my laptop for that.

I know people who cell cast (audio and video) concerts and this replaceable battery is INVALUABLE. Nobody ever got through an entire show with any type of phone ever. They'd resort to buying a couple phones or having a couple of cell casters instead.

Ive had really good battery life...

    charged overnight
    100% @8am
numerious text and a couple calls.
left idle till close to 5pm @78%

pluged in to sync maybe 10-15min... 83%

    Quiet night..more text..couple calls..update the facebook..etc

    Left off charger all night
Its been good all day today with out a sync or charge at all. now at 49%

so 10-15min of charge time in the last 36hrs...

    I dont see the problem.

Im in a 2g area so 3g is turned off, wifi, bluetooth as well.

If you lay the phone down once and a while it last a good while.

Don't take this the wrong way but you are basically saying that if you just use it as a standard flip phone, it lasts a long time.

The N1 is designed to be on EDGE/3G, connected to WiFi, GPS and working with high-speed data. This is the reason people are buying it...TO BE CONNECTED!

I could dumb mine down and get awesome battery life too!!!....but that would defeat the purpose of the device.

    This is true but.
It didnt just lay all day..I dont have 3g nor wifi..gps is on and by a few text messages...I send over 3k a month. Downloaded several apps and spent a fair amount of time on socal networks.

Im just saying that ive had good luck. I realize its all about the user.

I used it mine frequently today.

25 or so send and receive mails
    30 or so texts
Good amount of GPS / Nav
About 1hr of talk time - screen off
    Pandora music running quite abit
    Not a ton of browsing

    8:30 am full charge / 10:30pm 15% charge
threw on charger for 2hrs 15mins fully charged again.

Just a simple point to note is I used it more than my laptop. If I got 14hrs out of my laptop Id be insanely happy.

I know its apples and orages, just making a point.........

Being on a phone call just kills the hell out of the battery a 25 min call dropped me to 90 after taken off the charger.

Started a 7.30 with full battery. No calls, no text, 25 minutes internet (though it should only count page loads, it's idle when you're reading - in which case half a dozen pages, if that). I'm down to 79% and it's 9.30.

It's wifi that kills it, it seems. I have wifi on, because I want to connect to wifi when I can. That's the point of the phone. Bluetooth is off, gps is on (but not being used).

My iPhone had wifi on permanently, the N1 should be able to manage it too.
