On a serious note you if you can access the file system just find where the .wav (or similiar..not that familiar with android) is located and change the extension (because if you delete it its pretty much gone forever). There ya go.. now no sound
Never know if it will throw an error, until tried. Like someone previously said, you could replace the sound clip with a blank one. I don't know what the file system for android looks like, so i'm not sure if thats possible unrooted.
Yes, The sound turn off. It is nothing to do with camera function. When the camera plays the sound of shutter. Your phone is set to silent, therefore no shutter sound play through your speaker. All camera function work normally. re-enable the sound after finished to play with your camera. That is for you have the sound turn back on. So you don't miss the phone when someone tried to call you.
I used to have a Samsung phone that had no shutter sound. It was also all black. This made it perfect for taking pics of unsuspecting people.
