Change screen timeout when plugged in?

Is this possible? I have my screen set to timeout and lock after 30 seconds, but i'd like it to stay on indefinitely and only manually lock it when it's charging or connected to usb. Any ideas?

yes you can (well on a nexus one you can, your phone says motorola Q) have it stay on forever when plugged in...

    go to...
SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS > DEVELOPMENT > stay awake option

Fantastic! Thanks a million, jdeproductions...that makes my life much simpler. I suppose this was in the manual somewhere...a yes, there it is!

Now for the second part of the question. The manual states:

Stay awake Check to prevent the screen from dimming and locking when the phone is connected to a charger or to a USB device that provides power. Donít use this setting with a static image on the phone for long periods of time, or the screen may be marked with that image.
Does anyone know exactly how long is a "long period of time" in terms of the N1 screen?

Maybe not, just want to be safe and not ruin the screen on my currently uninsured phone.

Even though they may not suffer from burn-in, I've read the AMOLED screens have a significantly lower lifespan than LCDs. Like 14,000 hours vs. 60,000 hours. So, leaving the display on all the time may not be the best idea. I know, with 14,000 hours you'll get around 5 years @ 8 hours per day, and I highly doubt I'll still be using this phone in 5 years...I digress.

I think I'll just use the "Toggle Screen Timeout" from the market with a shortcut to manually toggle the timeout. Seems like the easiest way to have full control.

    Thanks for the tips all!

This didn't work for me, when using in my car dock the screen would still dim on me.

So I purchased DockAwake! Display Manager ($2.99). Problem solved. It actually gives you a number of control options over your settings when docked, and allows you to set different options between your car dock and desktop dock. Like toggling on/off wifi, gps, bluetooth etc. Great utility.

I also, downloaded Dock Volume (free). Which allows me to set different media volume presets between docked and undocked. Nice utility.

They do, I have burn in on mine from the status bar, a picture frame widget & some homescreen icons. All of the items that burned in were white.
