    Gmail sync update not working?

My Gmail does not update automatically on the nexus one when I get a new email. I need to manually open the gmail app > menu > refresh too see any new emails.
In my settings under Accounts and Sync I have gmail sync ON, auto sync with a green check, and background data with a green check.
    Thanks

Do you have other email account setup in "Email", like POP3?

Remove the POP3 account and it will sync almost immediately.

I have the same issue but once I removed the POP3 account and the Gmail Sync works.

One option would be to setup your other emails to forward to your gmail account.

It does this occasionally for me as well. A reboot should fix it.

thanks, but you cant. last time i tried to do that, hotmail only lets you forward to other hotmail addresses, unless they changed it since i had my blackberry

I recently set up my hotmail account (free one) to forward to gmail and it is working. So, maybe something did change from whenever it was you tried before.

this only works for certain hotmail accounts. the reasons are listed somewhere online, but basically, the hotmail account i started before 2000 forwards and you can link up to a blackberry or nexus and it's basically like push. the other hotmail account doesnt allow forwarding, and you can link it to a phone, but doesnt do push or sync. microsoft basically wants to make you pay their $19.99 fee or whatever it costs now. but the solution is to forward one hotmail to another hotmail, and then forward the last hotmail to gmail

The trick I read somewhere the trick has to do with Messenger. If you set it up to forward IM's to you, then the ability to forward email is opened. Once you do that you can remove the Mobile number so that it doesn't forward the IM's anymore, but by then you will have opened up the ability to forward email. It works on all accounts.
