8-digit phone number format on Nexus One?

    Hello!

This is my first forum post - sorry if I'm doing something against the rules.

I tried a quick search for my question, but with no results.

I'm from Denmark, but I would like to buy a Nexus One, as I think it's a pretty cool phone. In Denmark we use the 8-digit number format, which looks like xxxxxxxx - Is it possible to make the Nexus One use this format for the phonebook?

Thanks in advance for your answer(s)!

    I wouldn't know.

I'm just guessing it is using the American format - and I am curious to know if the format simply can be changed throught he settings menu.

    You can save them.
You can likely save everything between 0 and x digits

It is possible to set the the telephone format in the GMail Contacts, Nexus One Contacts to whatever format you like: +###.####.####, (###) ###-####, +##.###.####.####, etc.

The Nexus One will allow the carrier's Caller ID to function properly.

What does not work is when you dial a number directly from the Nexus One Phone. The format is always in a strange format.

For example, local telephone numbers here in Hong Kong are also 8 digits. When I dial a local number, the display of the Nexus One will dynamically transform the number typed. First as ###, then ####, then ###-###, then ###-####, and finally ###-###-##. I guess the Neuxs One is trying to be flexible.

Fortunately, this is only an esthetics thing, the Caller ID still works properly. After the call is made or on an incoming call, the Nexus One is still able to match it to the proper contact within the Nexus One Contacts.

Can the contact phone number format be changed?

I'm from the US, but temporarily living in Singapore. The number format here is XXXX XXXX. I have a mix of US and Singapore phone numbers, but since I'm located in Singapore at the momemt, I prefer to use XXXX XXXX. However, there is no 'Singapore' option under SETTINGS -> LANG/KEYBOARD -> SLECT LOCALE. I changed my profile location in Google account online, too, but that didn't work.

There is no option for this, as this for the north Americanm market.

Maybe the european phones may have it.

If you recall, Google listed Singapore and Hong Kong as two of the original lists of countries where it delivers the N1. And in both of those countries, the number format is XXXX XXXX. It's very annoying to see my Singapore phones as XXX-XXX-XX (with the dashes).
