    My complaints about the N1...

There aren't really a whole lot but I do have two issues that bother me a bit.

    1. The quality of the speaker on the back of the phone is, in my opinion, significantly lower than the one on my old BlackBerry Curve 8320. When I'm using the car navigation app for example, I can barely hear the instructions. Speaker phone doesn't really impress me either. Is it only me or do others feel the same way?

    2. The other thing that's bothering me is the battery life. The phone doesn't seem to hold a charge for very long. I do realize that I'm playing with it a bit more now than I will when I've had it for a while but the phone was fully charged this morning and when I got to work and pulled it out the battery showed some drain. According to the log it was due to cell stand by.

Any tips on what to do to increase battery life?

Other than that I really that phone. If only I wouldn't have to wipe it off ever 2.5 seconds...

default messaging app has a bug that causes the phone not to sleep. at least in mine and alot of other phones it did. to fix this download another messaging app like chomp sms or handcent. disable the default messaging notifications and set the one you downloaded as default.

another battery saver us to turn off gps when not in use. this one thing doubled my battery life.

As far as battery life goes, it seems after a few drains and recharges the battery life begins to improve. The first few days I was going 12-18 hours on a full charge, but I was also toying around with the phone quite a bit.

Right now under "normal use", the battery life is MUCH better. Currently, I'm at 74% after 14.25 hrs unplugged. Mind you, I turn off GPS, WIFI...well everthing except sync when I'm not using it. This was a pretty easy habit for me develop, especially since I put the power control widget on my home screen.

The battery works great. You have to know that Android run on Multi Task and alot of task need to be kill each time. Do a search on Market for Task Cleaner Pro, set almost all or all apps which you need to Auto Kill when the phone on standy mode.
Turn off GPS, Wifi if you using 3G. Mine last for the whole day with many calls, SMSs, MSN on 24/7 and still at 60% full.

Thanks for all the info. I'll try your suggestions. One other thing. I just got out of a meeting and pulled out the phone and it feels pretty warm to the touch.

I know it gets warm while charging but it hasn't been charging for a while now. Has anyone experienced this?

Its normal to get warm when using it on 3G and if you leave it on stanby model for a while its not normal. Some apps running on the background. Use the task killer and kill every single task.

It appears what's killing my battery is the cell radio. I don't know why though, as I have three (sometimes four) out of four 3G bars at work.

Just found this info over at the t-mobile forums.

Re: Cell standby and battery drain - T-Mobile Community

Battery drain seems to be connected to 3G connectivity issues.

I'm temporarily running the N1 on Edge to see if that significantly improves battery life. Is there a way to turn off the cell radio (like on the blackberry)?

    Nexus One Demo Site Blows

Slow-loading, misguided line-art animation that crashed my browser. The worst thing Google has ever produced. If this is what I can expect from a Nexus One, I'll stick with my iPhone.
