I think that's a good idea. It shouldn't hurt to peek while it is plugged in and charging if you can't wait. I know many who say they did that.

Okay thanks. I think I will wait just to be on the safe side. I assume the 'notification light' is the little orange dot on the top right of the front of the phone?

Yes. The orange dot will turn green when it's "almost" charged. I have to leave mine on an extra 10 minutes or so after it turns green to get to the fully 100%.

    Congrats !!!

Because I need to charge mine at work as well as at home if needs be, and I don't want to lug around the AC cord.

It will pull 500ma charge from any USB connection, if it needs it.

Yes. I have heard from alot of people that is strongly recommended that you do that. I even heard from one person to charge the phone an extra two hours after the green light comes on. The green light just means that the phone is 95% charged but I bet you'll be overly excited at that point. Enjoy your new phone.

With lithium based batteries it really isn't necessary to charge it to 100% before first use. It doesn't matter at all. That's more of a habit left over from NiMH type batteries.
Of course you don't need to take my word for it and it doesn't hurt to charge it all the way. Just don't worry too much about it.

What the guy above said, when the green light comes on, charge it longer, an hour should be good,

using it before the green light turns up will kill your battery life...
