Multitouch broken on Nexus One, G1, MyTouch...

This is a discussion on Multitouch broken on Nexus One, G1, MyTouch... within the Nexus One forums, part of the Google Phones category; Yep, it's broken... but I don't think there are many (any?) real apps that are realistically (versus theoretically) affected, are there? That is... is anyone ...

Check this out.....Looks like they are planning on fixing the multi-touch before it comes to verizon. Mentions that the march 23rd date will be pushed back until the nexus one touchscreen problems can be fixed

I don't know if it's fair to say multitouch is broken as much as very limited. It wasn't advertised as such and the features that were added, mainly pinch to zoom function exactly as they should.

It sucks that some games will probably never work very well, but keep in mind 99% of all apps will be just fine.

    EXACTLY EXACTLY EXACTLY.

I used both apps, and it did exactly this. It shows the axis in the second app used, but it seems like the visualizer with the blue/red dots isn't showing them correctly.

Either way, I don't really mind much.

Unfortunately that video doesn't prove anything. Since it shows four corners instead of just the two dots, it could very well still be flipping the corners but with this app you just can't tell. If you notice it stutters when he crosses the axis, while on the droid its smooth as butter. This means it still probably switches them. The guy who made the video posted on his blog that he made a mistake.

The axis sticking and axis switching may be 2 unrelated things. According to cyanogen, the droid has a flag enabled that prevents (or diminishes) axis flipping. When enabled on the N1, it behaves the same as the droid.

However the axis sticking (when crossing) appears to be a limitation (not really a defect) of the touchscreen hardware.

So basically software can improve the situation, but probably not completely fix the limitations of the N1.

Yup I noticed that after I got the app. You can't tell if it flips correctly since its a square. Derrr..

I believe you are correct. Hopefully Google will enable that flag with a future update, and maybe even modify the hardware itself for future N1's to fix this problem.
