    Google Voice/Gizmo5 Activation Code

Color me FRUSTRATED! I have this fine new Nexus1 phone and both google voice and gizmo5 accounts. However, its impossible to activate my gizmo5 number in google voice. I've been trying for a week. The problem is that GV won't or can't recognize the two-number activation code when I enter it on my nexus1. I've tried everything from activating the tones on my phone to using a java tone emulator. Nothing works!!

I've also tried using gizmo5 with sipdroid. I did get it to connect a week or so ago, but couldn't dial out -- never could get a dial tone. Now I can't register on sipdroid at all.

Anyone else having this problem or found a work around?

(BTW.. I've searched endlessly on the web and these forums for answers)

I installed Sipdroid on my N1, set up my Gizmo5 account and put some money into it, and was able to dial out, although the caller id was bogus.

I had no problems responding to the Google Voice request for a numeric code - all I did was drag up the tab from the bottom of the screen to get a numeric keyboard.

I can get incoming calls and make outgoing, except for Caller ID. This only works if you use the GV web interface. A pain. At this time, Sipgate may be a preferable approach.

    Ray

I used another number to verify my Google Voice code.

I have an N1 unlocked with no carrier.

Google is just ferreting out fraud and bots.

Try your home or work phone. It was successful for me.

I think Ray wants to get his Gizmo5 line working, which goes beyond Google Voice activation. After GV activation, when you tell GV you want to hook up a Gizmo line, you have to supply the Gizmo SIP ID, which looks like a phone number but isn't. GV then rings that SIP ID to ask a confirmation number - not to validate GV, but to verify that you actually have the right SIP ID.

dave I think you're right about Sipgate through Sipdroid.
This may be an easier solution for Ray.

Sipdroid has worked well ( must use PBXES to tunnel ).
An occasional problem here and there but mostly well.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong.. Nothing seems to work on this phone.. Sipdroid, GV, etc...
Maybe you could give me some info on PBX in sipdroid?

    thanks

    Hey Ray

This is the guide I used to get Sipdroid working with Sipgate.

Get Sipdroid to work with any SIP provider on your Android phone See This, Now Read This

Get a Pbxes account and follow the directions. It's a bit daunting at first but worth it.
