Prep my Google Account before getting Nexus One?

I am anxiously awaiting the Nexus One release on Verizon (its on the verge of pathetic how obsessed I am). So in the mean time; while I'm waiting... Can I get some pointers on how I should best prep my Google Account/Services to work seamlessly with the phone.

    Such as:

    gmail contacts/settings
Picasa profiles (people set up to auto recognize)
    Google Voice settings
    Google Reader
...and pretty much any other Google Service that the phone uses...

    I am a googleholic...

    Thanks for all your help!

If you go into your Gmail contacts, you can set up all your contacts.

If you already have a bunch typed in, try adding contact pictures and as much information as you want in each persons contact list.

If you are going to merge your contacts with Facebook, you don't need to type in EVERYbody into your Gmail Contacts, unless you want duplicates. If everyone you know is already on Facebook with their information there, typing in your contacts manually on Gmail is a bit repetitive.

Having a credit card or debit card set up on Google Checkout makes it quick and easy to start purchasing apps from the market place.

If you use Google maps ALOT, any saved routes/places/favorites on desktop will be transfered to Google Maps.

While I was waiting for my nexus I went in and made sure I had all my bookmarks set up and the way I wanted them. That way you can just sync your bookmarks with the nexus and you're off and running. As for google voice I would way until you get your nexus to mess with it because you want to have it there to help set things up.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your Nexus One!!!

if you already have a set of friends' numbers w/ corresponding email they use on facebook go search android marketplace for an app called facebook sync. the app gives you an option to add all your facebook friends i believe or update the ones already on your phone. it also uses your friends' profile pic in facebook as their pic on your phone.

Or if you already have a Yahoo mail account, it will do it for you with a click of a button.
Then export your contacts in CVS form and imported in your gmail account.
    No need for extra apps.

    Hi Guys

Go here and log in to your google account:

    www.google.com/bookmarks

Create your bookmarks there and when you get your nexus just go in to the browser, select bookmarks and then select sync and they will be downloaded from the cloud on to your phone. This is for the Dolphin browser. I cannot remember how it works for the stock browser since I never use it. It might download them automatically when you log in to your account on the nexus the first time. I can't remember tho. Dolphin can be found in the market for free and I highly recommend. hope this helps

    edit

Also be sure and drag that google bookmarks link at the bottom of the page into your PC browser so you can easily add more bookmarks to the list in the future. There might be better ways of doing these things but I'm new to Android and Google myself so I'm learning with you guys. I just saw someone post about this method and so I tried it and liked it. like i said hope it helps.

Thanks for all your help guys! I've been cleaning up gmail contacts all afternoon. I appreciate all the pointers.

I did a little research myself and I was disappointed to find out that I could not sync my Picasa People pictures to my gmail contacts, therefore I wont be able to use those pictures as contact images on my N1. boo... seems like that should be a no brainer...

    anyway keep the tips coming!

    Thank again!

    P.S.
Holding my breath for tomorrow!!! Don't let me down VZW/Google ....
