Exclamation Default SIM PIN change bug

    Hey, I've identified a possible bug with Android/Nexus S.

The option to change the PIN (in Settings > Location & Security > Set up SIM card lock > Change SIM PIN) doesn't work when the SIM still has its default PIN.

I was using a new Orange (UK) SIM card and phone. When I tried to change it from the default (1111 for Orange fyi) I got a toast that said "Unable to change SIM PIN. Possibly wrong PIN entered" (or something to that effect).

I then changed the default PIN with the SIM in another phone, stuck the SIM back in Nexus and then I WAS able to change the PIN (and also turn on the SIM lock).

Can anyone else reproduce this? I'll state again that it was only while the SIM had its unchanged, default PIN.

I too can confirm this, this is definately a bug. Thought it was just me! I knew it wasn't a wrong pin because it didn't block the sim after showing that message 3 times.

For what it's worth, it is the same on the Nexus One running 2.3.3.

It isn't a bug, you have to follow the right sequence.

    Tap the Menu key
    Tap Settings
Scroll down to and tap Location and security
Tap Set up SIM card lock
    Tap Lock SIM card
    Enter the current SIM PIN
    Tap Change SIM PIN
Enter the current SIM PIN, then tap OK
Enter the new SIM PIN, then tap OK
Confirm the new SIM PIN, then tap OK.

    Default SIM PIN change bug

That's a joke. As I recall, inputting the wrong SIM code in 3 times locks your card and you need a PUK to unlock it. Not funny.

Now if that is the actual instructions, it's stupid. When I enter it in once, it acts like it's trying then flashes an error message on the screen.

Yes it is stupid, should be straight forward. I entered the new pin more than 3 times and the phone didn't lock, the reason it didn't lock was because like everyone else I was doing it incorrectly and an error message kept appearing each time. I found the correct sequence on Vodaphone UK's website.
