    Exclamation no 3g signal

    Hi there,
I am a new owner of the Nexus s. I bought it a month ago in the UK and as soon as I came back to the Netherlands and changed the SIM, G3 connectivity/coverage has gone.

I am new with this phone and I've spent the past weeks playing with APN and other settings in order to sort it out by myself; I've also made some searches on the web where I realized there are some bugs with WIFI and G3, but nothing which really reflects my situation.
Basically, 3G icon is not even present while with the same SIM card on a Nokia phone in same location I can successfully connect. I also have really different signal strength and the Nokia is just a 6303

On my opinion, this is not an APN or a Provider issue. Sounds like a bug related to the 3G availability which some how is not provided to the OS services.

Under Status I can see the followings:

    Network: vodafone NL
Signal strength: -99 dBm 7 asu
    Mobile Network type: UMTS
    Mobile network state: Disconnected
    Android version: 2.3.1
    Kernel: 2.6.35.7-g7f1638a android-build@apa28#1

    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance

I would call your carrier first and see if you are connecting to the closest tower

May be a bad sim card

Nexus anything seems to have poor signal strength--my N1 sucks--whereas my wifes old Nokia 6126 and current LG DLite can make calls where I can't

    No 3G - try this

I had the same problem with my Nexus S.

Since the phone is unlocked some carriers will not see the phone as its home device.

You may have to turn on roaming so that your carrier will allow 3g access.

This solved the problem for my phone.

Just be careful when not in your home area as roaming can get expensive if your phone cannot find your home signal but finds one from another carrier.

Check your nexus model under the battery and on this site you can find the 3g frequency.

    Samsung Google Nexus S - XDA-Developers

when you change of carrier you need to make sure its compatible.
