That would DEF be an OS issue. Bring on root and custom ROMs!

What are you considering to be poor battery life? And are you using task killer to kill the gallery app?

A lot of times if it's the Gallery that's eating your battery up, it's trying to index or create a thumbnail image of something that it can't read. Like an unsupported image or video format. Those will hang the app and cause high CPU usage, draining the battery. I've had that problem myself. That and Mediaserver eating my battery.

I've had the mediaserver problem -- but not since early FroYo builds.

I noticed the battery indicator dropping in less than a day. The battery use screen showed 85% use by the gallery. I tapped through to the app and used "forced stop " then filled in the offered "report " screen. When this happened again I worked out that the camera was somehow involved so now I just go in after using the camera and kill / stop the gallery if it's started running. Haven't found it since the new OS update last month.

So, sounds like there were enough reports to catch the eye off the OS bug team and they sorted it in the current release. I'm amazed they don't patch earlier versions, Microsoft (sorry to swear) do every month!

When you say dropping, do you mean from 100% to 15%? Or what?
