    Can someone help?

I would really like to root my phone.....My phone is a Optimus S running 2.2.2 Baseband: LS670MVD_60401001

    I have downloaded:

Gingersnap....I followed that and now have Superuser on my phone.

I have also got Clockwork recovery2.2.2 and the flash image that goes with it.

    and RebornRom.

I have tried to make sense of the directions to install but I am just not getting it.....and if I brick this phone I will be killed by the wife.....LOL

Can someone explain it so 2 year old would understand it.....I need a step by step lamens term explanation of how to do it and if there is anything else I need to have to be successful.

    Thanks
    MIke

Without knowing the exact guide you are using, it is hard to break it down along those steps. But generally, it goes like this:

If you have Clockwork installed, that usually has the rooted kernel build into things. So you may already have it. Download and install an app called Android Terminal Emulator from the market, and when it finishes, open it and type "su" then hit return. If it lets you approve access in Super User, then you have root. If not, you still need to finish something.

Provide the link you are using so we can break it down further, because without knowing much about the phone, I'm not sure if you used sfb files, adb or something else to get recovery or where you may be at in the process. Also, please list every step you've done successfully.

If you have SuperUser access then you are rooted.

You have it and can verify by downloading root checker from the market.

Yup after root you need to flash clockwork. What instructions did you use?

If you have superuser on your phone you rooted your phone. This is what makes it difficult to try and help when you then say you only downloaded everything to your computer. Flashing a rom is the process of putting a custom rom like the reborn rom onto your phone. It replaces the stock rom that comes with your device.

How the instructions say to install recovery? You probably need to use adb.

Do you have the newer version or the older version of the hardware/software?
