2 more dumb questions please: where and how do I start a new topic (in these forums); and is there a secret setting anywhere that will make my screen stay lit when I'm talking (on the phone) instead of shaking it? (the phone). I allow my wi-fi to sleep whenever the screen is un-lit and therefore calls get dropped (this phone doesn't automatically transition between wi-fi and network). Told you they were dumb. I looked everywhere before bothering you (my manual, T-mobile support, etc). Thanx.

As far as new topic, just click on forums, find a forum heading pertaining to subject. Example: click on forum, then click on android phone, then lg, next click on model of lg phone. Then click menu on phone and click new topic.

As far as backlight go to settings/display/backlight. Then just change time it stays lit.

Yeah...that controls backlight for everything else except dial pad. I keep it set on 1-3 minutes, depending, but the dial pad goes black a few seconds after a call is connected. You're supposed to shake it when you want 2 c the red button to hang up or punch in #'s for whatever. I don't know if it's an LG thing or what. I can't find this topic anywhere. I guess I need to call T-mobile or LG. I can't believe I'm the only person that needs to fix this problem. But hey thank-you for your quick response and the next time I post I'll put it in the right place.
P.S.: I've been to the Optimus S forum (there is nobody else with a T I guess). All I know how to write anything there is by replying to somebody elses topic. I don't get how to initiate a new topic. I mean, I've done it before (under a rock, signal strength), but I'll be damned if I know how. Thanx again

Slag It said it pretty well. Find the forum you want to post in, hit the menu button, and when the menu pops up with Refresh at the top just pick "New Topic" with a pencil just under the Refresh button.

Yep like fbm just said. The whole hang up issue, do you put phone up to your ear or use a handsfree device?

Both (depends if I'm driving); the dialpad back-light behaves the same. (I know it knows when it's up to my ear and I can't see the pad anyway). If I am calling out, I can show (unhide) the keys which keeps it lit. But not if I'm receiving the call. I guess I need to either keep the phone in motion or don't let the wi-fi sleep. As I'm usually sitting next to my charger at home, I guess it's not a huge issue. Somebody should have allowed for this is all, unless I'm missing something (like that'de be hard). Oh and about the topic thing, I finally saw the word MENU you guys have been trying to tell me. I've been going to the right room and then just standing there looking into space wondering what next. What a dummy. It don't take me long to look at a horseshoe...Goodnight you guys thanx again.

Don't feel too bad. It's often the simple things we overlook.

    Signal Strength

All signals are measured the same whether WiFi or cell signals, the closer to 0 dbm the stronger, or actually the more positive the stronger.
-113 is much weaker then -98, 0 is much stronger then -98 and so on.
Download the WiFi signal strength app, it will show you a graph of all the WiFi signals at your location in dbm reading. You will see that a local WiFi signal is usually
20 to 30 dbm stronger then the cell signal unless you are very near a cell tower.
