Samsung Galaxy 4G SMS Notification Won't Go Away
Hi-
My Galaxy 4G has the sms notification hung up and won't go away. I was using google voice as my voicemail provider and it sent a text notification of an voicemail. Now it wont go away but the message isnt in the inbox. If I swipe down to try to clear it it comes back instantly, if I click on it, it open a new text message creation screen.
I know others have had this problem, but haven't been able to search a fix.
Any ideas?
And yes I've soft booted a dozen times, pulled the battery a half dozen uninstalled google voice and changed my google voice account settings to no longer send the text notifications, plus generated another voicemail before uninstalling it, had it send a text notification, deleted it and it still didnt fix it.

Did your phone at some point get a software update.

Not that I am aware of. The T-mobile mod in their forum hasn't mentioned anything like that.

Did you install an sms app? Try using handcent.

I've had this problem on my Galaxy S II as well and it's super annoying! But finally, I find the way to fix it:
Download an app called "Reset Unread Sms" by Kamosoft from the Play Store and run it. Problem solved!
Awww, yeah! Praise the Lord!

I kept getting unread text notifications but could not find any. What I believe was happening is that I would delete a text thread and shortly upon deleting a new text would come in related to that thread, but get caught in the delete process. Then I would have an "unread" text that I could not read thus the recurring notification even upon clearing from notification bar it would return every time I would open a new, or create a, text. This app identified the unread apps (which allowed me incidentally to see where they were from and to read them. This solved a significant annoyance for me. Thanks for the suggestion. But I do find it strange that I could not find these texts anywhere other than limbo.
