No Internet Access When Using WiFi
I work for a company that does IT support for small businesses. One client just purchased some new Andoid Casio G'zOne Commando phones and while they work fine on the mobile network, when they connect them to the company wifi, they can't get out to the internet.
I've looked at the DHCP server and it is handing out IP addresses to them and the scope is set to hand out DNS server addresses along
with an IP address. Company laptops on wireless don't have a problem with internet access nor do some older Andoid phones.
So I'm trying to figure out why these phones can't get to the internet when on the company wireless network. I'm suspecting there is something in the phones themselves but I'm not familiar with them to know what could be configured in them that would stop internet access via wifi. Any thoughts?

This might be a stupid question but, does he have the wifi on in the device? Does he have the correct access key configured on it also?

I'm going to make an assumption here along the lines of the phones are being connected to an encrypted Wi-Fi network.
So, the question I'm asking will make more sense: Can they connect to an unencrypted network?

I'll say yes to both because the DHCP server shows the phones getting an IP address and that couldn't happen if wifi was not turned on and I don't think it could happen if he didn't have the correct access key entered.

That is an unknown. I'm trying to get them to take one or more phones to a public place like Starbucks and test them there. My feeling is that something is not right on the phones because the other Android phones they've had for a while all get to the internet just fine on wifi.

Some Android phones and some version of Android have issues with encrypted networks. Don't ask me why.
Sorry for the delay, I've been insanely busy for the last week.

No problem for the delay. We found a workaround. Rather than selecting the network from the list displayed on the phone, we did the manual add process by typing in the SSID, password, choosing security level. That worked on 3 different kinds of Android phones that previously would not work if using the "automatic" method of selecting the network from the list of networks displayed.
I have NO idea why the manual method works, but it does so we're not looking a gift horse in the mouth so to speak.

Sometimes, working is far more acceptable than convenient. Glad it's working for you!
