with the old galaxy models i could create notifications with mp3 ringtone maker and use it for my calendar notifications but when i try to do this with the s3 it switches back to a default sound
i need to make a longer running sound for calendar alerts because i dont always hear one little ping and i sometimes use it as a wake up alarm

Create a .wav file with your computer, then connect your s3 via usb and upload the sound on the 'notifications' folder. That worked for me.
