Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Stuck on Boot Logo, Doesn't Start

    Hello,

I have spend about a whole day on this problem without any success. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 which is stuck on its boot screen and doesn't
proceed any further than that. It shows "Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (GT-N7100)" on the screen. I could only see this after switching the phone on and even after
    restarting the device.

I had Googled for some help and tried using Odin with so may different Custom ROMs and Samsung's Official Firmware without success. I get error messages
such as PIT file error on Odin and I have tried downloading (PIT File) which has been also unsuccessful so far. I also tried many different versions of Odin (ranging from 1.x.x to 3.x.x).

I also cannot get into recovery mode (Pressing Volume Up button, Home, Power).
I could only enter into the download mode (by pressing the volume down button). I've tried removing battery for 5-10 minutes and restarting again (no success).

I followed all instructions found online such as installing the Samsung-USB firmware on my Windows machine and I can't see where I could have gone wrong.

The phone was purchased in Malaysia and (I have used the exact firmware for Malaysia - downloaded from Samsung's website to restore using Odin)
    with no success :-

    Galaxy Note 2 (International) GT-N7100 XME N7100XXDMF2 4.1.2 07.06.2013 1071214

I hope someone would be able to help me out.

I tried most of the steps described on the site provided by Astrix above with no success. I am using Odin to restore the firmware and it has been difficult as I couldn't access the Recovery mode by (Volume Up, Home, Power) button combo.

However, I can enter the Download mode (Volume down, Home, Power) combo to download the firmware via Odin but have met issues such as missing PIT. I have a few PIT files (downloaded online) such as the stock version among others - again not working for me. It always gives error such as PIT file not found or it freezes with message (SetupConnection) among others.

Any other suggestions ? I am really going through a difficult period at the moment as this is my primary phone and I can't get it working. I don't mind losing my data as long as there is a way to reinstall firmware and use is fresh.

    Please help me someone. Please.

Have you try ONLY recovery.tar file (NOT the whole firmware tar file) flash via PC Odin in PDA?

Hi Astrix, I have not tried the "recovery.tar" method.

How do I obtain the file ? Most importantly what method to flash it via Odin ?

Would I need to rename anything or place it in a special folder ?

I tried doing what you said earlier and I still get "There is no PIT partition" error on Odin.
I have installed Kies now. But it's not running as it may interfere with Samsung USB driver.

I downloaded the recovery.tar (suitable for my device) from :-

Do not run KIES together with Odin
To install KIES inly to get the drivers that come with KIES. Kill KIES and run only Odin

What the last firmware you're using?
    - custom rom with what cwm/twrp? or
    - Official rom with official recovery or...etc?

Have you try flash official recovery only?
(Where to get, download whole firmware. Open up the zip file and you can find the recovey image)

Hi Atrix, Thanks for your support so far.

I only installed Kies and not running it. I have killed the processes using task manager. Only Odin runs at the moment.

I downloaded the original firmware from Samsung-update website. The name of the firmware is :-
    N7100XXDMF2_N7100OLBDMD2_N7100DXDMF1_HOME.tar.md5 (about 1.14GB)

I don't see any recovery file in this firmware file. There's only one single file.

Any other sources to download from ?

    I am downloading this now : N7100XXDLJ2_OXA_FACTORY.zip

What do you propose I do with this file ? Should I look for the recovery file alone ?
