Pantech Flex Advice, Cannot Root Again

    Hi all,

Hoping for a little help getting things back to where I would prefer them.

    Pantech Flex P8010
ICS 4.04, currently mostly stock, with a few errors in the factory reset as far as I can tell. Previously rooted.

The phone works fine currently (just not as well as I'd like), and will load the system recovery <3e> with reboot, apply update from external, wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, and apply update from cache options. The initial reason for rooting was to try and install CWM and some other small tweaks, and attempt to manually upgrade to JB. At some point I decided to attempt to unroot, factory reset, and see if I could force an OTA update. For whatever reason, removing too much bloatware maybe, the factory reset is fully functional, but has a few issues with the stock apps. However, I haven't been able to root the phone again since the reset, using the same, and different methods. I was wondering if there is a way to either go back completely to a fresh stock ICS, or possibly even to JB with the phone in an unrooted state. I've looked around a lot, and I haven't seen an answer involving my model of phone, so I figured I'd ask for advice to see if there was a general android solution before I tried too many things on my own and possibly bricked the phone.

I'm actually giving up for the moment and heading to sleep, so no rush, but I'll check back as soon as I can.

    Thanks for any help!

Update, through a combination of linux root methods, deleting all root app files on the external sd, and moving a few files for the Bin4ry root when running windows, I finally got it rerooted. I wish I had a better explanation of how, but I'm just glad it finally took.

Glad you got things worked out! I just went through a somewhat similar situation, rooting my Galaxy S3. Some of our forum staff are highly knowledgeable and qualify as technicians. I am NOT part of that group. My efforts to root were stressful, due to my own efforts - it usually works better if you follow the instructions. Fortunately the Galaxy S3 is difficult to actually brick, and returning to the starting point and doing it correctly the second time resulted in a successful root and installation of a custom rom. My point being: I had to stumble through the installations but it all worked out well in the end.
