After latest OS update, Vlingo has taken over and I can't stop it

I was very comfortable using the built-in voice command for texting, but after the OS update the other day any attempt to use the microphone in the keyboard brings up Vlingo. Under "manage applications" Vlingo's uninstall button is grayed out and under "text messaging" I see no way to choose which voice app to use. How do I return to using the old voice app? Using Motorola Bravo MB520 now on Android version 2.2.1

No not rooted. I wouldn't fiddle with much under the hood. I did download a couple of uninstallers which didn't show Vlingo and also tried an update from the market which only allowed me to uninstall the update back to where I was.

That means that it's a system app and can't be removed without root. Try clear defaults under the same menu where uninstall is greyed out. Applications>mannage apps>all>vlingo>clear defaults.

Ya seems like the update added vlingo as a system app. Was it a full system OTA update?
