Get a free launcher for your phone. I use ADW and go launcher ex. Then download some of the free themes. Take a look at dolphin HD browser. What are you interested in? Go to market and download what you like. Kinda hard to tell someone to get this app and that app not knowing the persons likes or dislikes.
Another thing you can look into is overclocking, but the usual warnings apply. Also, you'll need an older version of SetCPU -- assuming your phone can even handle being overclocked -- since older versions of Android are no longer supported in the latest releases. Like SLAG IT! said; what are you interested in doing?
