    Dell Streak Help

I am using dell streak 5 Updated to Android 2.2. I havent done anything else in it.

I use advanced task killer v1.9.6 build 76 by rechild.

Now whenever I kill the selected applications and exit from the ATK after a few seconds when I start it again I again see all of the applications are running. And no I dont start them its by default. This drains my battery like anything. Can you please help me. Is the task killer not good or is something that I am doing wrong.

    Please help. Thank you

There are no good task killers. Stop using it. ATK is draining your battery as well.

I concur with Fbm. Quit using task killer. The Only reason to task kill an app is if that app is causing a problem and it won't let you uninstall it or force close it.

What apps are running in the background that you want to stop?

The OS will cache and even kill them, unless they're protected, to free up more RAM for new applications.

The Android OS is designed to run with all the RAM full, unlike a desktop OS. Don't think of it as a PC, think of it as a mobile computing device.

Ya just let the OS handle it. Running processes sit idle unless you're using them. So no worries.

ummm... okay... i am not satisfied but still if you all say so... One last query though why do they run on their own even when I quit them.

Almost all the applications like Market, application locker, settings, email, and horde of all things are simply running even if i don't open them and also when I open and exit out...

Sorry for being like this ( I forgot the word what it's called!) the thing is this is my first ever Android phone and the experience is too overwhelming after a decade of using Windows Mobile and Symbian 60.

The ones you listed need to run for your device to work properly.

That explains why you're used to having to kill tasks. Android handles it for you. I've been using my phone heavily without a reboot and without having to kill a single task for 48+ hours at this point without any lag, slowdown, or other issue. Of course, I'm not using a task killer, antivirus, or other totally-unneeded thing. And if it starts to lag or whatever I just reboot. Two minutes and my phone is fresh, snappy and fully-functional. It's not like rebooting a Blackberry, PC, or any other device.
