You will need to sbf your phone if you want it 100% stock. What's the reason for unrooting?

So then flash the rom that you have on your other vortex to the one that doesn't have stock apps.

You'll want to flash a file called SBF onto the phone to get it back to stock, then reroot since flashing a ROM might not take and you'll have to SBF anyway. If you're unfamiliar with the process we will provide links to both information and the files you'll need. I'd suggest flashing FRG22D on if you can. The reason being that gives you the most options to root, and once you're rooted you'll have a few options to flash recovery. As for recovery, I'd suggest you stay away from ROM Manager and ClockworkMod Recovery as both are problematic.

So, when you're ready to begin, just let us know and we'll get you started!

Alright. What OS do you have on your computer? If you have a Mac we'll need to figure something out because doing this on a Mac can be tricky. If you have Windows you'll need the Moto Connect drivers from Motorola, RSD Lite 4.6, 4.8, 4.9, or 5.0. Do not get 4.7; even patched you might have problems. If you have Linux you'll need SBF_Flash. When you tell me what you have I'll link you to the proper download.

Next up would be the SBF file. You'll need this regardless of the OS, so since I'd said you'll want FRG22D you'll want this one. http://wonderly.com/bb/DROID/OEM/VZW..._SW_UPDATE.sbf

http://wonderly.com/bb/DROID/OEM/rsdlite_5.0.msi That's RSD Lite 5.0. Let me know when you have that installed. I'll link you to very detailed step-by-step instructions on how to flash the SBF I linked you to earlier onto the Droid 1, but the process is similar (if not identical) for all Motorola phones.
