Android Lurker
First post and needing a bit of help
Hi all
I'm new to smart phones and not enjoying the experience. Would like a little help getting over this phase. I have very little time to spend bonding with this new master. Need to get efficient with this thing soon. The manual was too short. OK enough whining, here are a couple of specific questions.
What is the quick way to input a new contact, least number of clicks from home screen?
Is there any way to prevent pocket dialing?
When I pull it out my touch cuts off calls. Can I prevent this?
Is there a better place to get this type of simple answers?

Which phone do you have? Normally easiest way to add a contact is to open the dialer, press menu key, add new contact. The screen will turn off when an object is near the proximity sensor (normally located by ear piece) this is to avoid pushing buttons while on the phone.

Thanks xer, the phone is a Verizon hTc. Today I found that the People icon gets me there in two clicks. That's great; I swear that didn't work yesterday. Maybe it's learning. Guess it could be the operator.
The prox sensor makes sense. Actually my problem is more one of dialing when trying to scroll thru the address book. It would be nice to set a preference for having to press call rather than just tap. But my scrolling skill is improving so it is workable if annoying.
A new question, how can I move icons between the aps page and the home page?

Hold on the apps. Then they'll be movable.
