    Notification That Won't Leave

Firstly, I apologize if this is in the wrong thread, this is my first post.

But my problem is that apparently I have a new message on my phone when I don't.
The notification isn't coming up in the bar at the top, but the "1" symbol wont leave on the messaging icon even though I don't have a new message, I've clicked multiple times and went through all my messages but it still wont go away, it's really annoying me. Any help please to get rid of it?
    Also, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S3

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Have you tried to reboot your device to see if that removes the number notification?

Yes, I've rebooted lots of times now, I've also deleted all my messaging threads and and went through them all incase I missed something. I also disabled and re-enabled the whole messaging app itself and rebooted the phone. I don't know what else to do now, I don't want to have to restore the phone to factory settings
