Even a rooted phone can be reset to Factory settings. Just back everything up. And do a hard reset.

You mean the capacitive buttons and the bottom of the screen don't work anymore?

You can wipe all the changes you've made, then unroot the phone. But that won't do any good, since the warranty doesn't cover physical damage.

My question, why on Earth did you put your phone inside the microwave? It's one thing to forget, but what made you put it inside in the first place?

    Re: Help

OK. I may be drunk, but what in the world would rooting have to do with this? Rooting voids manufacturer warranty. So....if you root phone and speaker no longer works, you can't get it replaced under warranty. I this case, unrooting and resetting will help. (Makes it look like a hardware failure....)

However, nuking your phone (or washing it, bathing it, dropping it from a bridge, using it for a toboggan, running it over, seeing if it will sink or float, using it as a Frisbee, or any other such crap...) is clearly NOT a manufacturer defect. May be covered (it is by Asurion, with a deductible....) on an outside warranty, but then they won't care if phone is rooted or not. I have TEC care through Verizon (extends manufacturer warranty....) so when my daughters unrooted Droid 2 stopped making sounds, it was covered, although phone is 3 years old. If her phone was rooted, thus was STILL covered, as it was a manufacturer defect (and phone could be unrooted). If she used the phone to play ice hockey with, and phone broke, rooted it not, this is not a manufacturer defect. TEC wouldn't cover it, even if phone was brand new.

Asurion will cover that, but with the deductible, which is $100.00......
