Change size of ringtones to be greater than 300kb?

    Hi All,
Newbie here, not sure if this is the correct area, but I have a captivate, and I would like to assign some of my old ringtones to certain callers. I moved them from my old phone to my captivate, but when I try to assign them, the phone tells me that the file cannot be larger than 300kb. Is there a setting somewhere, that I could change it?
    Let me know please.

    And thank you.

    jason

I believe if you have an app like ringdroid, the kb limit doesn't apply. Astro file manager allows setting ringtones as well.

I looked around the Googlenet yesterday on this. I did come across a convoluted process of assigning a ringtone that you know is under 300kb and then swap the actual file out with the ringtone you actually want to use, using the same file name. That seems kind of messy though.

I haven't had this issue with my Captivate. In fact I assigned an entire song to my wife's ringtone.

Hey, new here, but I know the fix to this one. You have to make a folder on your internal SD card with the following structure...

    /media/audio/ringtones
    /media/audio/notifications
    /media/audio/alarms

If you put your mp3's, wav's, etc. in the respective folder, they will show up in the menu with your other ringtones, and size won't matter. After you copy the files over, if media scanner doesn't start automatically, you may have to reboot for them to show up.

    Enjoy

I realize this is an older post, but I have a question (or two) ..
What mode are you using to access that internal SD card?
I have three options, none of which get me there ... also, my systems continuously looks for and fails to load MTP application. I've tried to use Google, w/o much success. What is it I'm doing wrong??
    Thanks!!

    imJG24Fan,
If you hook to usb, then choose mass storage and then mount, you should see the internal and external SD cards listed in My Computer
