Post I do not have "unknown applications" setting after updating to FROYO

Got phone, did the mini keis update to firmware 2.2 Froyo and I still have no " unknown applications" menu under Applications. How ca I get this function or am I needing to root first? I am totally new to Android system so any help or step by step would be appreciated.

If you are running stock froyo then there is no Unknown Applications setting, that is only in the I9000 ROMS.

Check out this link to root and enable side loading

ATT has removed this feature from the ATT branded firmware.

If you don't already have it installed, check out Titanium Backup to remove the bloatware.

I was going to originally post this link to enable side loading

but remembered froyo has 3e recover so rooting and side loading would have been different. Check out the rest of the article to remove the bloat

    Cool Agreed

I totally agree. I am just happy that I "made" it happen with no issues. ( not the story usually) Thanks again for the help and ideas!
