Step 3, Connect the phone in download mode – I get the phone in download mode, but it does not “register”, all I get is “0:[COM4]” in the first little box. Also, the phone doesn’t show up with a drive letter or in the devices list. I suspect that I don’t have the correct drivers, but not sure what to do… Windows 7 lists "Samsung USB Composite Driver", but that doesn't seem to be working. Downloaded the Captivate PC drivers from xdaDevelopers ([STOCK ROM] Odin3 One-Click Downloader and Drivers CAPTIVATE ONLY - xda-developers) and ran the install, but it seems like a long list of options and I'm not sure which to use and how to tie that driver to my phone.
    Any help?
In download mode, the S5PC110 Hummingbird chipset is put in "serial" mode. ODIN has complete control over everything on the motherboard in the phone. When in download mode, it won't mount like normal. All you should see when you connect your phone to your computer, in download mode, is the yellow COM connection in the first box in ODIN. Note though, that this will completely wipe your phone.... but your internal SD will be untouched. All your apps, system apps, preferences, etc... will be wiped and formatted. So back up your stuff! Just remember don't backup/restore apps like Music Player, or Email, or you know... the system apps.

I am more of a purist.. I never backup my phone.. I have all my apps listed under market.. So I just blow them all back on via click and push from my computer. This way I know I am getting the freshest copy as well as the phone wont let you install a bad version from Market as well as wont let you override a system app.. However if you use a backup program like Titanium you can overwrite important files.. Which has bitten me in the butt a couple time..

I can restore roughly 49 apps back to my phone and configure them by hand in 13 minutes.. (Timed and repeated several times) Once you get used to it.. New ROMs become addicting.

    Here it is...

    - Download Here -

    Darkyy's Dark Core kernel
    Samsung JVP 2.3.4 Gingerbread Base
UGJK4 Modem (Oddly enough, that's the only one I can get to cooperate with 2.3.4 on 850MHz, but that's subjective)
Stock Voodoo Lagfix implemented on first boot (it will notify you with voice prompts on 1st boot)
Google Music 3.0 is the stock Music Player app
    Voodoo Sound V9
Added haptic home feedback to JVP frameworks
    Reworked Notification Area
Email app 3.0.0.1 with full Exchange support
    Fixed OpenGL drivers
And a couple of system tweaks...

Enjoy! And remember, this is like all the beta's... it's a full wipe.

I could not get JVP to flash. Every time I tried it would say opening zip and then install zip and then it would say (Bad) and it would not flash with either Darky w/ CWM 3 and xcal 1.2 and 1.3. I wanted to rule out CWM. I also downloaded the zip twice to make sure that was not the issue.

    Thanks Dorian!
Just fyi, CWM kept saying the zip was bad. I had to remove the data folder with the netflix apk from the zip. Then it installed just fine.
Everything is working great so far. I cannot believe how fast this new rom boots! Really smooth and responsive.
I installed the netflix apk manually through adb and it is working.
