ATT Captivate Phone Frozen up ......... Please help

I (have) had a rooted Samsung Captivate Phone. Phone was fine that was months ago.

Today I was trying to change the permissions to sideload an app and might have move the enabled SD file somewhere other than where it was suppose to go. A red SD came up top saying the SD was almost full. (i think that was the warning. The phone was working (calling) and apps appeared to be working fine. The phone was acting funny so I removed the battery and and SD card and then put them back in. The phone would start but nothing never boot up. Just a black screen. So I held the volume and power button to get to the recovery mode.

    update media, please wait .....
    update media, finished

It appears to be frozen here .......... I have these options up top

reboot systems now (did this and still didn't fix the issue)
reinstall packages (did this and still didn't fix the issue)
delete all user data (did not do this)
delete cache data (did not do this)

Any help is much appreciated ......... very concerned I just bricked my phone ................

Just pull the battery. Or does it boot to the recovery screen by just pressing the power button?

If it still turns on, it's not bricked. Soft-bricked maybe, but totally fixable. You can always flash back to stock 2.1 with Odin 1-Click via download mode and re-install apps/re-root from there. Important thing is chill out, don't panic and read this How to unbrick the totally bricked Captivate - xda-developers.
