Wifi not working

Ok so its weird.

So i've connected to the wifi network and so i should be able to use the wifi instead of 3G right? wrong. anytime i try to use something, it cant resolve the host. though the laptop which im typing this on is connected to the wifi as my phone is.

oh i have the Samsung Captivate btw. just got it today.

id rather not waste all my money by exceeding the data plan s oi need to be able to use wifi...

please help

EDIT: oh and you know the feeds and updates newsfeed to the left of the home page? yea so that works on wifi but nothing else does...
