    Tethering disconnect issues with At&T...

I recently updated my captivate to the 2.2 firmware version via Samsung Kies Mini therefore unlocking the true tethering features, both the mobile ap and the usb mode. Well I first noticed an issue while tethering with the mobile ap, right off, about 20 minutes into the connection it dropped my internet access, as if I turned it off through the phone itself. My plan provider is At&T, and yes I have a tethering plan. I tried the wired usb tethering feature but it still drops my connection at random. I've tried tethering it to two different computers, running two different operating systems (Windows 7 Home Premium & Windows XP Professional). If anyone has any tips or information that will help me resolve this issue please respond. I'm new to the Android OS, but I consider myself somewhat computer savvy... I thank you for your time and attention, have a great day!

    Sincerely,
    Jason

Are you using the official tethering app? If not AT&T, who is cracking down on unofficial tethering, is probably seeing this as a theft of services.

2.2 does deliver the tethering services built into the Settings for Wireless and Network... but if you're on a tethering plan, what you're describing shouldn't be happening. I've seen that kind of activity on lines that weren't provisioned correctly. Call AT&T and ask a rep to give your account a once over... something isn't setup correctly.

I'm having the exact same issue on my Galaxy S. I didn't use this feature until I updated to 2.2, but EVERY 20 minutes or so the tethering stops working and I have to re-enable it. It just turns off. Would also love some help on this issue. I pay for this service and being interrupted tethering all the time is really quite painful. Thanks.

If you're still having a issue I'd suggest you contact your carrier and ask them for advice.
