So, this is pretty much just like the other beta thread, only this one is for only Gingerbread builds.
JVP 2.3.4 - Current as of 6/15/2011
Here it is... Installation instructions are below...
- JVP Beta 1 Download Here -
Darkyy's Dark Core kernel
Samsung JVP 2.3.4 Gingerbread Base
UGJK4 Modem (Oddly enough, that's the only one I can get to cooperate with 2.3.4 on 850MHz, but that's subjective)
Stock Voodoo Lagfix implemented on first boot (it will notify you with voice prompts on 1st boot)
Google Music 3.0 is the stock Music Player app
Voodoo Sound V9
Added haptic home feedback to JVP frameworks
Reworked Notification Area
Email app 18.104.22.168 with full Exchange support
Fixed OpenGL drivers
And a couple of system tweaks...
Enjoy! And remember, this is like all the beta's... it's a full wipe.
First out is XWJVB 2.3.3... Also, this one is a bit more complicated than the Froyo ROM's to install, and some of your basics change in the process.
Once flashed with the new Gingerbread bootloaders...
Recovery is Vol+ and Power.
Download Mode is Vol- and USB Plug.
Also, to go back to stock for whatever reason... should only be done with the ODIN-3 One Click restore. Otherwise you're looking at hard permanent bricking your device.
Without further ado... here it is!
JVB - Beta1 - Download Here
Installation instructions couldn't have been posted any better than what MikeyMike laid out so here they are quoted...
Just in case anyone is wondering, to get Gingerbread to boot we have to flash a complete i9000 boot environment... including Partition Mapping and bootloaders. Since we have to do that, we have to actually flash the stock OEM version of Samsung's XWJVB first, then install the custom ROM on top of it. Promise though, once the process is complete, you'll really love Gingerbread. It's literally as smooth as glass... smoother even than any of my Froyo ROM's, like JK3 or JS5/JS8. I have to admit, Samsung did their homework on this one.
