    I think you are asking how to root your phone, not unlock it. Anyway, to root it you can just download the z4root app from the Market and run it.

    I think the OP means unlock. IIUC, the OP wants to use the Captivate on another carrier.

    ...but the title says "unlock my cap to work with another company". That's why I assumed he wanted to unlock it to work with another company...but I've been wrong before :D

    As far as unlocking goes, you would need an unlocking code. I'm not sure how to get one but a web search shows you could request one from AT&T...doubtful they'd give you one. There seem to be some sites that help but it seems they were failures and were refunding the cost.

    You can try searching some more but it looks pretty tough.
