    Plan B worked.
Plan B was use Odin to flash it back to 2.1 and go from there.

The official 2.2 flashes the "3e" recovery which has to be "shell rooted" first then fully rooted.

Sounds more complicated than it rightfully should be.

Like I said I haven't tried it, but I just repeating what's on the Samsung FAQ and the Tweets from
GalaxySsupport. Again it seems odd, since I have Kies Mini already running on my laptop.

Just updated mine. First thing I noticed, in addition to the Froyo UI, was that the Battery Fully Charged dialog no longer opens - it's now just a notification icon. About time!

Also, Keep Screen Alive or whatever that setting was under Development is missing. Had to create a Tasker setting to deal with it. I AM kind of bummed about that.

That is a good thing. OLED's have burn in issues just like plasma TV's if left on the same thing for too long. Some Nexus One users used their phones as alarm clocks where the screen was left on overnight/through the day and they had BAD burn in issues.

Interesting. That's exactly what I've been doing since I got mine with no issue. However, I'm using Alarm Clock Plus in screensaver mode which moves the time around a little. Also, because my bedroom is so dark, I have to clock colors set to almost-black on black. That may be why I'm okay so far. I will take it under advisement, though, as I have been known to keep it on at work with much brighter display settings.
