Pictures in MMS messages problems???
Hi all,
I looked around in the forums, but I had no luck.
Has anyone else encountered any problems trying to send a picture via MMS on their captivate?
Mine never seem to send. I always get a "FAILED" message.
Regular text messages are fine.
I am currently running the stock version of FroYo.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
I also looked on a few other forums, but there weren't really any answers there.
Thanks
jay

Honestly, I have never had ANY issues sending picture messages with my Cappy when I was running Froyo. I know this may sound like a pain but you might consider a factory reset and flashing back to 2.1 Eclair and reflashing 2.2 Froyo. I had an issue where my accelerometer just suddenly stopped working and I backed up everything, did a factory reset and reflashed my ROM (I was and still am rooted, however so I used Titanium BU to back up). Again, I know you probably don't wanna go thru all of that but sometimes a factory reset fixes any anomalous firmware issues.

It could also be your APN settings that are messed up. That would cause no MMS messages to go through when everything else still works. You can check your settings in Settings-->Wireless and Network-->Mobile Networks--> APN Settings
All your MMS settings should be in there. You can try making a new APN configuration by tapping menu and create a new one... then just fill in the blanks with this:
Name: AT&T
APN: wap.cingular
Proxy: leave blank
Port: leave blank
Username:WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password:CINGULAR1
Server: Leave blank
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: wireless.cingular.com
MMS Port: 80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: leave blank
Anything not listed above, just leave blank.
You may also have to restart your phone after modifying any APN settings, so that they stick.

Thank you for the info....
It seems that my APN Settings, cannot be modified...
Looks like I'll have to find another way around.
I was rooted with eclair, but with FroYo, I figured I'd wait, because I thought Gingerbread was right behind it....
I know as soon as I root, Ginger will come out...
oh well..
thanks again for the quick responses!

Well there is a semi official GB release for the Cap out now so I'm sure the official release is right around the corner.

Yep. There is an official Gingerbread release out for the Captivate. It's Android 2.3.3, but it's officially AT&T branded with an AT&T modem. It's not a shipping firmware, but it's stable, and would be fine for daily use.

I will stick with Serendipity VII which is quite stable and doesn't have all the AT&T bloatware. Thank you! Lol
